CUPBOARD LOVE - October 8-11

    What the weekend is about...

The best meals are often spontaneous and unplanned. A perfect cheese, great bread, a good bottle of wine and scintillating conversation, shared around a kitchen table, is hard to beat. But wouldn't it be great if you could casually put something incredibly delicious together from whatever you have in your cupboard, any time your friends call in unexpectedly?

With some strategic ingredients (dry, tinned or frozen) you'll always be prepared for full-proof, quick and delicious dishes that can be varied and adapted according to each season and to your every mood...

The cookery sessions are limited to 8 people. They are informal and fun (and hands-on for those who would like this). Excursions include visits to an olive press, winemakers, a beekeeper and an award-winning goatscheese. These visits are flexible and changeable wherever possible... provided all guests concur.

    What the weekend includes...

    • 3 nights accommodation in B&B La Souqueto.
    • all meals and all wine - both at home and in restaurants
    • all transport to and from the airport and all excursions
    • all demonstrations and tutored winetastings

    What the weekend costs

    ... 590 euros ALL INCLUSIVE

    Itinerary

    Friday 8th October
After the pick-up from the airport we head straight to the Medieval Cite of Carcassonne for lunch. Afterwards, we go to Mirepeisset via a superb winemaker for a winetasting and the award-winning goatfarm of Combebelle to see the milking and cheesemaking and of course to taste the cheeses. At home, after settling in, there is a talk on 'cooking with flavours' and on 'stocking your larder' and a cookery demonstration, followed by dinner.

    Saturday 9th October
After breakfast, a morning visit to Narbonne's foodmarket. There is time for a stroll to the Cathedral and the shops before a leisurely lunch in a city centre restaurant. In the afternoon we'll visit a beekeeper to taste his 12 unique honeys, then home for some relaxation, followed by another cookery demonstration, then dinner.

    Sunday 10th October
After a relaxed breakfast, there is an option to visit the openair foodie market of St Chinian, an aperitif on its 'cosmopolitan' square and a picnic in the gorges of the Orb river afterwards, OR a visit to another extraordinary winemaker followed by a picnic near the Mediterranean. (Donšt worry, it is still warm enough for alfresco meals!). Our final dinner will be in Mirepeisset, either in the restaurant La Taverna netdoor or in the riverside restaurant La Garenne.

    Monday 11th October
After an easy morning of relaxation with perhaps a walk to the pretty village of Le Somail we leave home for the airport. Packed lunches are provided

Guests will take home a pack with all the recipes for dishes demonstrated and eaten during the week as well as information on wine matching and buying.
